This page explains which personal data I process when you visit this website or contact me, for what purpose and for how long, and what rights you have.

Visiting this website
When you visit this website, your browser necessarily sends data to my server. The server records the following in log files:
- the IP address of your computer,
- date and time of the request,
- the page or file requested, the status code and the amount of data transferred,
- the previously visited page (referrer), if your browser sends it,
- the identifier of your browser (user agent).
I need this data to deliver the pages, to find errors and to protect the server against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is a secure and working website. The log files are deleted automatically after 14 days at the latest. I do not analyse them for statistics or advertising and do not combine them with other data.
No cookies, no tracking, no third-party content
This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and shows no advertising. It embeds no content from other providers (such as fonts, maps, videos or scripts); your browser loads everything exclusively from my server. Links to other websites (e.g. my profile on Gulp) are only opened when you click them; the privacy policy of that provider then applies.
The verb conjugation app remembers the language and the arrangement of the tense blocks you choose, solely in your browser (localStorage). This information is not transmitted to my server; you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
Hosting and encryption
I run the server myself. It is located in the data centre of Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) in Falkenstein/Vogtland, Germany. Hetzner provides the hardware and the network connection. Encrypted backups of the server are kept on storage provided by Hetzner Online GmbH in the EU; I keep them for no longer than seven months. The pages are served encrypted via HTTPS.
Contact by e-mail or phone
If you contact me by e-mail or phone, I process the information you provide (e.g. name, e-mail address, phone number and content of the message) to deal with your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to a contract or to steps prior to entering into one, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (my legitimate interest in answering enquiries).
E-mails to me are received by my own mail server, which automatically checks them for spam and malware. I delete your information once your enquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. for business correspondence under German tax law, up to 10 years).
Clients and business partners
In the course of assignments I process contact, contract and billing data of my clients and business partners (e.g. address, e-mail address, phone number, bank details, tax numbers). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (legal obligations, such as retention under tax law). I pass this data on only where necessary, e.g. to banks for payments or to authorities where I am legally obliged to.
Your rights
You have the right to
- access the data I hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR),
- have your data erased (Art. 17 GDPR) and its processing restricted (Art. 18 GDPR),
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20 GDPR),
- object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for me is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (Bavarian Data Protection Authority), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, www.lda.bayern.de.
